DGB welcome new MD

Dronfield Genquip Band are delighted to announce the appointment of Lee Dunkley as Musical Director of the band 

Born in Old Trafford, Manchester, Lee began playing the tuba at the age of 12.
His subsequent rapid progression soon led to him being awarded a junior exhibition in music scholarship, at the Royal Northern College of Music, and later gaining a place at the prestigious Chetham's School of Music.

After leaving to study for his degree, Lee continued his development under the Professor of Tuba at the Royal Academy of Music, Patrick Harrild (LSO), going on to win the Ifor James brass trophy and the best soloist prize at the Valkenbourgh International Music Festival, making history as the first Tuba player to do so, and is regularly in demand by many orchestras as a tuba player,.

His passion for brass bands and ensembles saw him beginning his conducting career at 18, and Lee now runs popular workshops for educational establishments and musical societies, spreading his love and enthusiasm for all things musical.

Lee joins newly appointed MD of both community and daytime bands, Roland Spencer , and the organisation are very much looking forward to working with both MD's and enjoying a successful partnership.
